Troubleshooting connection issues

Can't join? Crashing on load? Walk through this checklist before opening a ticket — fixes 90% of cases.

Run this in order. If you're still stuck after step 7, open a ticket in #tech-support with your CitizenFX.log attached.

1. Check the server is up

Look at the Live · X/150 pill in the top-right of any portal page. If it's missing or shows "0/0", the server is down — wait for the #announcements update.

2. Update FiveM

Most "won't connect" issues are an outdated FiveM client.

  • Right-click FiveM → Run as Administrator to force update.
  • Or reinstall from fivem.net.

3. Verify your whitelist

Sign in to the portal dashboard. If your Discord ID is linked and you applied for whitelist, you'll see your status. If the dashboard 307s you to login, your session expired — sign in again.

4. Clear FiveM cache

Delete everything inside. FiveM will redownload the resources on next connect (~5 mins for first load).

5. Check Windows / GPU drivers

  • Windows updates pending? Install them.
  • NVIDIA / AMD drivers more than 2 versions old? Update.
  • Graphics card hitting 95°C+ on load? Reduce Streaming Distance in FiveM settings.

6. Firewall + antivirus

FiveM uses ports 30120 (game) + 40120 (txAdmin). Make sure your firewall lets these through. Some antivirus suites (notably Avast, McAfee) block the FiveM auto-updater — temporarily disable to test.

7. Loopback + IP

If your home network has IPv6 issues:

  • In FiveM, go to SettingsGameUse IPv4 only = on.

If you're on a corporate / school network, FiveM is often blocked. Use a personal hotspot to confirm.

What to include in a ticket

If none of the above worked:

  1. The exact error message (screenshot is best).
  2. Your CitizenFX.log file (location below).
  3. Your Discord ID + the steps you've already tried.

Common errors + fixes
